There are many options for students of all ability levels to consider in the Chaparral Band program.  

MARCHING BAND

Chaparral Marching Band is an award-winning ensemble that is an extracurricular activity. Students participate in football games, various parades, events, trips, and competitions that are a part of the Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA). 8th grade students are able to participate as well with concurrent enrollment in their middle school band program.

SYMPHONIC BAND

Symphonic Band is the lower level concert band and instrumental emphasis is placed on developing musical skills. Prior experience is recommended but not required.

WIND ENSEMBLE

Wind Ensemble is the upper level concert band, so prior experience is required. Students are expected to demonstrate a greater commitment. Instructional emphasis is placed on comprehensive musicianmanship.

JAZZ BAND

Jazz Band is an upper level ensemble for students interested in developing skills in jazz inflection, improvisation, and jazz style. Prior experience is required.

PEP BAND

The pep band performs at basketball games in the winter time, depending on the schedule.

WOLVERINE SYMPHONY

This volunteer group is sponsored by Mr. Stanfill and students perform with the CHS orchestras at certain concerts/events during the school year.

CONTINENTAL LEAGUE HONOR BAND / ORCHESTRA

This select group is the “closest to home” of many honor bands available to students to audition for. Students participate in sectionals, rehearsals and have a combined performance.

WINTER PERCUSSION

The winter percussion ensemble meets after school from November until the State Championships in March/April.  This ensemble is open to any students interested in participating. Winter percussion competes in the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association (RMPA).

WINTER GUARD

The winter guard ensemble meets after school from November until the State Championships in March/April.  This ensemble is open to any students interested in participating. Winter guard competes in the Rocky Mountain Color Guard Association.
